Enrico Celio successfully finished his PhD dissertation on „Participatory land-use decision modeling with Bayesian networks“.
The study investigated how Bayesian networks can be used to integrate local actors in the modeling of land use decisions. It was found that Bayesian networks are a transparent approach to model the causal relationships between causes and effects of land use change. For example, the influence of local actors on land use change in the UNESCO Biosphere Entlebuch could be quantified.
