Urban Orientation Strategy Vietnam
The Minister for Construction directed that a drafting committee and drafting team be established to prepare an update of the Orientation Master Plan of Urban Development in Vietnam to 2020 which was approved by the Prime Minister in 1998. The current “Orientation” has been overtaken by the rapid urbanization that has taken place since 1998 and also Vietnam’s policy reforms that have moved the economy towards a greater market orientation and increased the decentralization of responsibilities to local governments.
The Division of Landscape and Environmental Planning will provide assistance to the drafting of the new Strategy through the following tasks:
- Prepare and assist technical visit of Vietnamese urban planning experts in Switzerland at LEP/IRL, ETH Zurich
- Prepare papers and presentations for workshops in Vietnam; including inputs to scenario technique and spatial/environmental planning;
- Assistance to the Drafting Committee in the process of study and formulation of the Orientation/Strategy on urban development in Viet Nam until 2020.
