Tranquility map of the Swiss Plateau
Due to the Corona-pandemic, there is an increased interest in holidays and recreation close to home.
For this reason, PLUS, in collaboration with the external pageFoundation for Landscape Protection Switzerland, created a Tranquility Map of the Swiss Plateau. The map shows regions that are relatively quiet and untouched by human development. We identified 53 of such regions in the Swiss Plateau. As only several of these regions have a protected status, the map can be used by Cantonal and Municipal authorities to install additional landscape protection measures in these regions. The project has received attention in Swiss media, for example external pageSRF, external pageNaturschutz.ch and external pageTages-Anzeiger (only with subscription).
